Many industrial devices, including PLC, DCS, and intelligent instruments, are using the Modbus protocol as a communication standard between them. The Modbus protocol is a common language applied to the electronic controller. Through this protocol, controllers can communicate between each other and the controller via a network (such as Ethernet) and other devices. The Modbus protocol defines a controller that recognizes the message structure used, regardless of what network they communicate. It describes how a controller requests access to other devices, how to respond to requests from other devices, and how to detect errors and record. It formulates the public format of the message domain pattern and content.
