The AdventNet SNMP API provides a comprehensive development kit for network management applications based on SNMP. The AdventNet's SNMP stack contains a number of powerful Java SNMP libraries that are used to create real-time applications for monitoring and tracking network elements that are reliable, extensible, and independent of the OS. Developers can use the AdventNet's SNMP library to create independent, web-based and distributed (EJB, CORBA, or RMI) web-based management applications based on SNMP. In addition to providing basic SNMP operations such as SNMP GET, SNMP GETNEXT, SNMP GETBULK and SNMP SET, the Java SNMP library provides ready-made components for traps and table processing. These components facilitate easy and rapid development and deployment of SNMPv1, SNMPv2c and SNMPv3 management applications. The SNMP management application (manager) built using the java-based SNMP API can receive SNMP traps and can handle these traps based on predefined criteria for effective SNMP management.
