Description: Performance comparison of multiuser OFDM-TDMA and
OFDMA systems by considering physical and link cross-layer behavior
is conducted in this work. We provide a new framework for performance
evaluation that centers on scheduling with several different
subcarrier/bit allocation schemes. The performance metrics include: the
bit rate, the bit error rate (BER), packet throughput and delay. The
instantaneous channel conditions of users are assumed to be available
at the base station, which can be achieved by channel estimation at the
mobile terminal (MT), and then fed back to the base station through
a control channel. To perform the link layer comparison, we model the
Rayleigh fading channel with a nite-state Markov chain, and adopt the
M/G/1 queueing model as the analytical tool. Computer simulation is

Description: Ajey, S., B. Srivalli, et al. (2010). On performance of MIMO-OFDM based LTE systems. Wireless Communication and Sensor Computing, 2010. ICWCSC 2010. International Conference on.
4G wireless systems predominately employ multiple input multiple output (MIMO) with an orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) system. Like other 4G systems long term evolution (LTE) also employs MIMO-OFDM physical layer. MIMO helps in increasing the throughput whereas OFDM converts a frequency selective fading channel to multiple flat fading sub-channels facilitating easy equalization. It is proposed that LTE system should mandatorily support 2Ã 2 MIMO setup. Our paper focuses on the performance of such a LTE system with two transmit antennas and two receive antennas in a frequency selective fading environment.

Description: Modern wireless communication systems are expected to support high data rate, allowing users to access high quality multimedia content, anytime-anywhere. To support high data rate, wideband frequency channels are required. However, frequency selective fading over wideband channels introduces inter-symbol interference (ISI) which in turn causes effective throughput to go below required level. Introduction of OFDM transforms wideband frequency selective fading problem to narrowband flat fading and solves the problem of ISI. Symbol detection under flat fading is simple and complicated equalizers at the receiver are not required.

Description: A historical perspective of orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing
(OFDM) is given with reference to its literature. Its advantages
and disadvantages are reviewed, and its performance is
characterized over highly dispersive channels. The effects of both
time- and frequency-domain synchronization errors are quantified,
and a range of solutions proposed in the recent literature are reviewed.
One of the main objectives of this review is to highlight the
recent thinking behind adaptive bit allocation and turbo coding in
the context of OFDM. This paper concludes with a wide-ranging
throughput comparison of the schemes discussed herein under the
unified constraint of a fixed target bit error rate of 10 4.

Description: we present a practical link adaptation
algorithm for MIMO-OFDM systems. The proposed solution is
based on sounding the channel periodically and choosing the
optimal mode that will maximize the throughput or energy
efficiency (EE) while satisfying the application’s quality of service
(QoS) requirements. In addition, we address practical problems
such as the computational complexity of the algorithm and
determination of sounding period by novel closed form solutions
and iterative algorithms. Realistic link level simulations confirm
that the proposed solution achieves significant improvement
over existing link adaptation algorithms when the aim is to
maximize the throughput, and provides orders of magnitude
gain in energy efficiency compared to poorly chosen fixed modes
when used for energy efficiency maximization purposes. The
resulting algorithms are implemented on a real time MIMOOFDM testbed, and we report on the experimental results.

Description: Simulation and performance analysis of OFDM with different modulation techniques
A special case of multicarrier transmission is Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM).In which single data stream is transmitted over a number of lower rate subcarriers. In July 1998 a new 5-GHz standard, targeting a range of data stream 6 up to 54 Mbps was standardized by IEEE keeping the basis as OFDM although its use was limited to continuous transmission. High throughput and high transmission rate can be obtained in wireless communication through concept of parallel transmission of signals. OFDM is one of the techniques of parallel symbol transmission to achieve better transmission quality. The idea of OFDM is to split the total transmission bandwidth into a number of orthogonal subcarriers in order to transmit the symbols using these subcarriers in parallel.-Simulation and performance analysis of OFDM with different modulation techniques

Description: Long-Term Evolution (LTE) is a new standard specied by 3GPP for fourth generation (4G)
wireless communications. LTE provides high spectral eciency, high peak data rates, short
round trip time, and frequency
exibility. It relies on the following technologies Orthog-
onal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) and Multiple-Input and Multiple- Output
(MIMO), robust channel coding, scheduling and link adaptation [1]. LTE is interoperable
with widely used technologies such as GPRS, WCDMA and HSPA, and this enables mobile
operators deploying LTE to provide a seamless service and multimode devices for customers.
Some companies have already launched commercial LTE networks, e.g., Verizon Wireless in
the United States and Vodafone in Europe.
Here, the throughput of LTE physical layer in downlink transmissions is carried out. The various steps like CRC,turbo coding, code block segmentation, scrambling, modulation and precoding are also carried out.-Long-Term Evolution (LTE) is a new standard specied by 3GPP for fourth generation (4G)
