Description: To combat high PAPR, one intuitive solution is to adopt amplifiers to have larger trade-off range. However, these types of amplifiers are generally expensive and have low efficiency-cost, and therefore are of no practical use. On the other side, certain algorithms were introduced and been proved have a good performance of high PAPR reduction. Hence, in this thesis, some currently promising PAPR reduction methods are studied and compared. The performance of these reduction schemes are evaluated by using simulation software, Matlab.

Description: Multiple input multiple output techniques combined
with orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (MIMO-OFDM)
provide a promising approach for wireless systems. However, a
serious drawback of the OFDM system is the high peak-toaverage
power ratio (PAPR), which may severely affect the
power efficiency of RF power amplifiers. In this paper, we
propose a simple method to reduce the PAPR of MIMO-OFDM
signals based on the use of unused subcarriers. Instead of
processing the signals at each transmitter separately, a peak
cancelling signal is generated at one antenna and is then applied
to all the others with only simple modifications. Simulation has
shown that a minimum 2 dB reduction in PAPR can be achieved
for all transmit signals using this approach. As the signal
processing is nearly all done at a single transmitter, repetition of
the operations at each transmitter is avoided, and therefore the
overall cost of the system can be significantly reduced. Platform: |

Description: In this paper, we have proposed a new PAPR reduction
technique in MIMO-OFDM systems. It achieves the result
which proves the PAPR of 2×2 MIMO-OFDM systems. The
parameters of the simulation are determined by standard IEEE
802.11n. From the simulation results, it is shown the proposed
method has better PAPR performance in this system.
Additionally, when the number of sub-blocks is increased, high
PAPR reduction performance can be obtained. Platform: |

Description: Selective mapping algorithm is proposed to reduce the peak-to-average power ration (PAPR) in MIMO-OFDM system.
It is proved that the conjugate symbols on two antennas have the same PAPR property with orthogonal space-time block coded (STBC). By using the characteristic, the computational
complexity cost and the side information (SI) is significantly
reduced compared with the concurrent SLM algorithm.
Simulation results demonstrate that the performance of the proposed algorithm outperforms the conventional concurrent
SLM algorithm. Platform: |

Description: In this paper, we present a Selected Mapping (SLM) PAPR reduction technique for MIMOOFDM
system with special protection of Side Information (SI). Selected Mapping (SLM)
is a powerful PAPR reduction technique since it does not cause any signal distortion and
simple to implement. As a special protection for the Side Information (SI) of SLM technique,
we propose a SI power allocation procedure. Simulation results show that our proposed
technique gives significantly better BER performance than the ordinary SLM technique for
MIMO-OFDM systems. Analysis for the optimum SI power allocation is also presented. Platform: |

Description: Multiple input multiple output orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (MIMO-OFDM) is very sensitive to the carrier frequency offset (CFO), which not only affects the channel estimation but also the selection of a minimum error probability based precoder for peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) reduction such that the system performance will degrade. This paper presents the joint scheme of CFO) and channel estimation in the MIMO-OFDM systems with the minimum error probability based precoder for reducing PAPR. We provide the solution to eliminate the effects of ICI due to CFO mismatch for OFDM with space frequency block codes and spatial multiplexing, drive a generalized linear model and propose a non-iterative reduced complexity model.
