This paper proposes an open switch faults detection and localization algorithm for shunt three phase active filter topology. It mainly details converter configuration and examines a simple and reliable optimised fault diagnosis method. The con verter topology is based on classical three-leg active power filter topology. A ne w fault diagnosis method is proposed, based on classical currents measurements. It includes combinatory logic to analyse and validate error signals. A Hysteresis Control is applied before and after fault detection, which avoids any controller reconfiguration. A control algorithm for a three-phase hybrid power filter is proposed. It is constituted by a series active filter and a passive filter connected in parallel with the load. The control strategy is based on the vectorial theory dual formulation of instantaneous reactive power, so that the voltage waveform injected by the active filter is able to compensate the reactive power and the load current harmonics and to balance asymmetrical loads. The proposed algorithm also improves the behavior of the passive filter. Simulationshave been carried out on the MATLAB-Simulink platformwith different loads and with variation in the source impedance.This analysis allowed an experimental prototype to be developed. Experimental and simulation results are presented.

In this paper, an efficient active power filter (APF) scheme is developed to estimate and compensate for harmonic distortion in an electrical power network. The developed APF control scheme is based on a double proportional feedback controller and a single-phase voltage-source half-wave bridge inverter. The proposed filter uses a Multi-layer Artificial Neural Network (MLANN) with a shift method for estimating system harmonic currents and voltages at a dedicated point. The proposed scheme is tested on a 13 bus industrial distribution system. The obtained results ensure the effectiveness of the proposed filter. The system is simulated in MATLAB-Simulink and simulation results prove that the polluting harmonics have been greatly reduced.
