In this paper, a novel block digital image encryp-
tion scheme based on a chaotic coupled map lattices
(CML) is reported. Within this scheme, an original
image is decomposed into sub-blocks with a given size,
and an external secret key with 192-bit is used and
mapped to the system parameters, which are employed
to generate a spatiotemporal chaotic binary sequence
matrix to encrypt the block original image. Besides,
the former sub-block encrypted result will be acted as
a feedback to the following sub-block encryption proc-
ess. The proposed scheme is described in detail, along
with the security analyses such as key space analysis,
sensitivity analysis, information entropy analysis and
correlation coefficients analysis of adjacent pixels. The
computer simulation results indicate that the suggested
image encryption scheme has some properties desir-
able in a good security cryptosystem.

Description: Content-based medical image retrieval is now getting more and more attention in the
world, a feasible and efficient retrieving algorithm for clinical endoscopic images is urgently
required. Methods: Based on the study of single feature image retrieving techniques, including color
clustering, color texture and shape, a new retrieving method with multi-features fusion and relevance
feedback is proposed to retrieve the desired endoscopic images. Results: A prototype system is set
up to evaluate the proposed method’s performance and some evaluating parameters such as the
retrieval precision & recall, statistical average position of top 5 most similar image on various features, etc.
are therefore given. Conclusions: The algorithm with multi-features fusion and relevance feedback
gets more accurate and quicker retrieving capability than the one with single feature image retrieving
technique due to its flexible feature combination and interactive relevance feedback.

Description: We compare the energy efficiency of some transmission
schemes in wireless sensor networks. By constraining
the system to end-to-end throughput requirements, we assume
that the nodes in multi-hop and cooperative schemes operate
at a spectral efficiency which is twice that of the single-hop
transmission. By taking into account the energy consumption of
the RF circuitry, we show that cooperation may be considerably
more energy efficient than non-cooperative schemes even in small
transmission ranges, specially if a feedback channel is available.
