constructs fuzzy rules for fuzzy PD/PI controller with the fixed weighting. Then the fuzzy rules, which self-learning their parameters for a desired condition, are learned through the accumulated GA. Description: A position control of a class of servomotors is addressed in this paper via a novel adaptive fuzzy PI sliding mode control. The premise and the consequence parts of the fuzzy rules are tuned with adaptive schemes. To attenuate chattering effectively, the discontinuous control is approximated by an adaptive PI control structure.Moreover, the bound of the discontinuous control term is assumed to be unknown, and an adaptive mechanism is used to estimate this bound. All adaptive laws are derived via Lyapunov synthesis method, thereby guaranteeing the closed-loop stability. The proposed approach has the added advantage that, for external disturbances, it only requires a bound to exist, without needing to know the magnitude of this bound. gain scheduled proportional-integral (FGSPI) controller as the
supplementary controller for load frequency control (LFC) of
two-area interconnected power system with reheat type thermal
unit of equal capacity in each area. The dynamic response has
been studied for 1% step load perturbation in area-1. The
proposed FGSPI controller is compared against conventional
proportional-integral (PI) controller and state feedback linear
quadratic regulator (LQR) controller using settling times,
overshoots and undershoots of the tie-line power and frequency
deviations as performance indices. Comparative analysis
indicates that the proposed intelligent controller gives better
