By uniform angular distribution and the correlation matrix, the MIMO channel capacity in correlated channel is investigated. Numerical simulation is performed with MATLAB, thus to verify the proposed formula. Simulation result indicates that, for this model, the increase of correlation means the reduction of signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), and the circular receive antenna array radius or angle spread is the dominating factor for channel capacity.

Unfortunately, these techniques require accurate channel state information at the transmitter (CSIT) for their proper operation. In practice however perfect CSIT is hard to obtain due to capacity-limited feedback channel in FDD systems for example. In this paper we investigate systems employing MU-MIMO decomposition transmission in the downlink with limited feedback. In particular, the essential information that enables the scheme to deal with inter-user interference is identified and the optimal codebook design in terms of minimizing the residual inter-user interference power is derived. Description: Although MIMO techniques are significantly ‘younger’ than OFDM, they also reached a state of maturity and hence the family of recent wireless standards includes the optional employment of MIMO techniques, which motivates the joint study of OFDM and MIMO techniques in this volume. The research of MIMO arrangements was motivated by the observation that the MIMO capacity increases linearly with the number of transmit antennas, provided that the number of receive antennas is equal to the number of transmit antennas. With the further proviso that the total transmit power is increased proportionately to the number of transmit antennas, a linear capacity increase is achieved upon increasing the transmit power. This is beneficial since, according to the classic Shannon–Hartley law, the achievable channel capacity increases only logarithmically with the transmit power. Thus MIMOOFDM may be considered a ‘green’ transceiver solution.
