Description: Abstract—Stable direct and indirect decentralized adaptive radial basis neural network controllers are presented for a class of interconnected nonlinear systems. The feedback and adaptation mechanisms for each subsystem depend only upon local measurements to provide asymptotic tracking of a reference trajectory. Due to the functional approximation capabilities of radial basis neural networks, the dynamics for each subsystem are not required to be linear in a set of unknown coeffi cients as is typically required in decentralized adaptive schemes. In addition, each subsystem is able to adaptively compensate for disturbances and interconnections with unknown bounds.

Description: Paper "Towards Multi-View Object Class Detection".We present a novel system for generic object class detection. In contrast to most existing systems which focus on a single viewpoint or aspect, our approach can detect object instances from arbitrary viewpoints. This is achieved by combining the Implicit Shape Model for object class detection proposed by Leibe and Schiele with the multi-view specific object recognition system of Ferrari et al. After learning single-view codebooks, these are interconnected by so-called activation links, obtained through multi-view region tracks across different training views of individual object instances. During recognition, these integrated codebooks work together to determine the location and pose of the object. Experimental results demonstrate the viability of the approach and compare it to a bank of independent single-view detectors.

Simulation results on the IEEE 4-generator AC/DC power systems have shown that the controller can enhance the dynamic stability of interconnected power systems effectively and is robust to the variation of system operating conditions and oscillation modes.

In contrast to the widely studied synchronization behavior, where all the coupled agents converge to the same value asymptot- ically, in the cluster synchronization problem studied in this paper, we require that all the interconnected agents to evolve into several clusters and each agent only to synchronize within its cluster. The fi rst approach is to add a constant forcing to the dynamics of each agent that are determined by positive diffusive couplings and the other is to introduce both positive and negative couplings between the agents. Some suffi cient and/ or necessary conditions are constructed to guarantee n-cluster synchronization behavior. Simulation results are presented to illustrate the effectiveness of the theoretical analysis.
