Modbus protocol is an area in the industrial manufacturing of a widely used network protocol. A Modbus communication protocol stack including the two: the definition of a data structure and function of Modbus Application Protocol and network layer. In FreeMODBUS current version, provides a Modbus Application Protocol v1.1a implementation and support for Modbus over serial line specification 1.0 as defined in RTU/ASCII transfer mode. Starting from the 0.7 version, FreeModbus also supports TCP defined in Modbus Messaging on TCP/IP Implementation Guide v1.0a defined in the TCP transmission. Freemodbus follow the BSD [1], which means that the protocol stack implementation of the code can be used for commercial purposes.
