Description: When a solar PV system is deployed for practical applications, the IV Charateristics keeps on changing with insolation and temperature. In order to receive maximum power the load must adjust itself and accordingly to track maximum power point. The voltage at which PV module can produce maximum power is called ‘maximum power point’ (or peak power voltage). Maximum power varies with solar radiation, ambient temperature and solar cell temperature. Typical PV module produces power with maximum power voltage of around 17 V when measured at a cell temperature of 25°C, it can drop to around 15 V on a very hot day and it can also rise to 18 V on a very cold day. Solar charge controllers are having wide range applications like in street lighting, water pumping system and many other industrial purposes. This paper mainly gives idea about designing of solar charge controller using maximum power point tracking system.

Description: Abstract—In this paper a single-stage solar PhotoVoltaic (PV) system feeding the power to an Open-End Winding Induction Motor (OEWIM) via a dual-inverter is presented. The OEWIM is coupled to a centrifugal pump for water pumping application. The dual-inverter fed OEWIM is chosen, as it requires low dcbus voltage which helps in optimal arrangement of PV modules, which could avoid large strings.

Description: The use of solar energy as a source for pumping water is one of the promising areas in the photovoltaic (PV) application. The energy of photovoltaic pumping systems (PVPS) can be widely improved by employing an MPPT algorithm. This will lead consequently to maximize the electrical motor speed of the system. This paper presents a modified incremental conductance (IncCond) MPPT algorithm with direct control method applied to a standalone PV pumping system. The influence of the algorithm parameters on system behavior is investigated and compared with the traditional (INC) method. The studied system consists of a PV panel, a DC-DC boost converter, and a PMDC motor-pump. The simulation of the system by MATLAB-SIMULINK is carried out. Simulation results found are satisfactory.-The use of solar energy as a source for pumping water is one of the promising areas in the photovoltaic (PV) application. Description: An efficient, cost-effective maximum power point tracking (MPPT) algorithm is required to improve the energy utilization efficiency of low power photovoltaic (PV) systems. This paper presents an experimental uation of the incremental conductance MPPT algorithm when employed by a standalone PV pumping system, using an experimental installation comprised of a 1080-Wp photovoltaic array connected to a 1-kW permanent magnet dc motor-centrifugal pump set. Particular focus is given to the uation of the two commonly utilized implementation techniques: reference voltage perturbation and direct duty ratio perturbation. The influence of algorithm parameters on system behavior is investigated and the energy utilization efficiency is calculated for different weather conditions. The performance of the incremental conductance algorithm is compared to that of the commonly used perturb and observe MPPT algorithm and the various advantages and drawbacks of each technique are-An efficient, cost-effective maximum power point tracking (MPPT) algorithm is required to improve the energy utilization efficiency of low power photovoltaic (PV) systems.
