[OtherQualityofServiceProvisioning

Description: —One of themajor challenges in supportingmultimedia services over Internet protocol (IP)-based code-division mul- tiple-access (CDMA) wireless networks is the quality-of-service (QoS) provisioning with effi cient resource utilization. Compared with the circuit-switched voice service in the second-generation CDMA systems (i.e., IS-95), heterogeneous multimedia applica- tions in future IP-based CDMA networks require more complex QoS provisioning and more sophisticated management of the scarce radio resources. This paper provides an overview of the CDMA-related QoS provisioning techniques in the avenues of packet scheduling, power allocation, and network coordination, summarizes state-of-the-art research results, and identifi es further research issues.

Description: Advances of diverse wireless access technologies are defining the trends of future wireless networks, named Next Generation Wireless Networks (NGWN), where several access technologies will coexist and devices will be equipped with different network interfaces, in order to take advantage of each access technology. In NGWN communication maintenance is a concept willing to reach. Therefore, strategies to tackle mobility and multihoming issues are required. In this paper we propose an extension of HIP in order to cover challenges that end to end mobility presents in NGWN. Our approach consists on sending access technology related information before handover execution occurs, in order to optimize handover process. Moreover, the extension tackles QoS issues by sending application requirements as well as restrictions or improvements affecting its performance in the new access technology.

[3G developadvanced-wireless-networks-4g-technologies.978047

Description: "Advanced Wireless Networks 4G Technologies". New E-Book. In the wireless communications community we are witnessing more and more the existence of the composite radio environment (CRE) and as a consequence the need for reconfigurability concepts. The CRE assumes that different radio networks can be cooperating components in a heterogeneous wireless access infrastructure, through which network providers can more efficiently achieve the required capacity and quality of service (QoS) levels. Reconfigurability enables terminals and network elements to dynamically select and adapt to the most appropriate radio access technologies for handling conditions encountered in specific service area regions and time zones of the day. Both concepts pose new requirements on the management of wireless systems. Nowadays, a multiplicity of radio access technology (RAT) standards are used in wireless communications.

[Internet-NetworkGateway_Placement_Optimization_in_Wireless

Description: In a Wireless Mesh Network (WMN), the traffic is aggregated and forwarded towards the gateways. Strategically placing and connecting the gateways to the wired backbone is critical to the management and efficient operation of a WMN. In this paper, we address the problem of gateways placement, consisting in placing a minimum number of gateways such that QoS requirements are satisfied. We propose a polynomial time near-optimal algorithm which recursively computes minimum weighted Dominating Sets (DS), while consistently preserving QoS requirements across iterations. We evaluate the performance of our algorithm using both analysis and simulation, and show that it outperforms other alternative schemes by comparing the number of gateways placed in different scenarios. -In a Wireless Mesh Network (WMN), the traffic is aggregated and forwarded towards the gateways. Multi-access radio resource management in selection as the key technology is the integration of heterogeneous networks of research focus. From the user' s interests fully into account the cost of pre-access networks, QoS and stability assumed between different network operators are competing with each other, that did not reach uniform agreement, proposed a combination of objective cost function and level analysis of dynamic multi-access selection algorithm. Through analysis of the factors affecting the judge and the second, the establishment of a network selection decision-making model, simulation results verify the correctness and validity of the algorithm.

[Program docIEEEXplore(981)

Description: WiMAX and WiFi have emerged as promising broadband access solutions for the latest generation of wireless MANs and LANs, respectively. Their complementary features enable the use of WiMAX as a backhaul service to connect multiple dispersed WiFi hotspots to the Internet. This study proposes an integrated architecture utilizing a novel WiMAX/WiFi Access Point (W2-AP) device to effectively combine the WiMAX and WiFi technologies. In the proposed architecture, the protocol operation of the WiFi hotspots is the same as that of the WiMAX system. As a result, the WiFi network can support connection-oriented transmissions and QoS in a similar fashion to the WiMAX system, and thus a considerable improvement in the delay performance is obtained. The numerical results obtained using a Qualnet simulator confirm both the effectiveness and the efficiency of the proposed architecture.

Description: Producing the quality of service in wireless network is a complex subject because of constraints related to the ad hoc mode as limited bandwidth, sharing medium...etc. The traditional routing based on hop count metric doesn’t take in its consideration the quality of the wireless link which causes the rate reduction in the network. In an effort to improve the performance of Mobile Ad hoc Network (MANET), cross-layer technique is implemented. It aimed to resolve QOS problems in manet and permit to share information about network status between different layers.

[OtherA-survey-on-game-theory-applications-in-wireless-

Description: While the Quality of Service (QoS) offered to users may be enhanced through innovative protocols and new technologies, future trends should take into account the efficiency of resource allocation and network/terminal cooperation as well. Game theory techniques have widely been applied to various engineering design problems in which the action of one component has impact on (and perhaps conflicts with) that of any other component. Therefore, game formulations are used, and a stable solution for the players is obtained through the concept of equilibrium. This survey collects applications of game theory in wireless networking and presents them in a layered perspective, emphasizing on which fields game theory could be effectively applied. To this end, several games are modeled and their key features are exposed.

[Program docalgorithm provide QOS for 4G networks

Description: There is a growing interest of wireless operators to migrate their existing 3G networks to different 4G technologies such as Wi MAX and L TE. In this heterogeneous environment of wireless networks and architectures, one of the major concerns is how to allocate network resources efficiently to diverse traffic classes with different QoS constraints. Further it has been convincingly demonstrated through numerous high quality studies that multimedia traffic found in modern wireless networks exhibits Long-Range Dependence (LRD) and self-similarity, a phenomenon which cant' be captured by traditional traffic modeling based on simplistic Poisson model.
