Description: This toolbox contains Matlab code for several graph and mesh partitioning methods, including geometric, spectral, geometric spectral, and coordinate bisection. It also has routines to generate recursive multiway partitions, vertex separators, and nested dissection orderings and it has some sample meshes and mesh generators.
The toolbox contains a Matlab interface to Leland and Hendrickson s Chaco partitioning package, but it doesn t contain Chaco itself. The file "chaco/README" tells how to install the interface to Chaco. It also contains a Matlab interface to Karypis et al. s Metis partitioning package, using Robert Bridson s "metismex" code. -Matlab code for subdivided Cul mesh and graph partitioning methods, including geometric and spectral, geometric spectral, and coordinate bisection. Description: This paper provides an algorithm for partitioning grayscale images into disjoint regions of coherent
brightness and texture. Natural images contain both textured and untextured regions, so the cues of contour and
texture differences are exploited simultaneously. Contours are treated in the intervening contour framework, while
texture is analyzed using textons. Each of these cues has a domain of applicability, so to facilitate cue combination we
introduce a gating operator based on the texturedness of the neighborhood at a pixel. Having obtained a local measure
of how likely two nearby pixels are to belong to the same region, we use the spectral graph theoretic framework of
normalized cuts to find partitions of the image into regions of coherent texture and brightness. Experimental results
on a wide range of images are shown.

Description: We introduce a noise-resistant algorithm for reconstructing a watertight surface from point cloud data.
It forms a Delaunay tetrahedralization, then uses a variant of spectral graph partitioning to decide whether each
tetrahedron is inside or outside the original object. The reconstructed surface triangulation is the set of triangular
faces where inside and outside tetrahedra meet. Because the spectral partitioner makes local decisions based on
a global view of the model, it can ignore outliers, patch holes and undersampled regions, and surmount ambiguity
due to measurement errors. Our algorithm can optionally produce a manifold surface. We present empirical
evidence that our implementation is substantially more robust than several closely related surface reconstruction
programs.

traditional clustering algorithms such as the k-means algorithm. Nevertheless, on the first glance spectral clustering
looks a bit mysterious, and it is not obvious to see why it works at all and what it really does. This article is a
tutorial introduction to spectral clustering. We describe different graph Laplacians and their basic properties,
present the most common spectral clustering algorithms, and derive those algorithms from scratch by several
different approaches. Advantages and disadvantages of the different spectral clustering algorithms are discussed.
