Description: The COMMON Sense project (for Community-Oriented Management and Monitoring of Natural Resources through sensor network) is about designing and developing an integrated solution for agricultural management in the rural semi-arid areas of developing countries. We want to provide poor farmers of that region with e decision-support tool based on an improved knowledge of the conditions prevailing in the field, and on well-established models of crop prediction. For this, we propose to use a wireless network of ground-sensors that will record periodically the state (salinity, humidity,...) of the soil, the temperature, the volume of precipitations etc. In a second phase, subterranean sensors will also be used to monitor the level and quality of ground-water.
