Description: This paper focuses on classes of remote monitoring and control
applications where important functionality is required at low cost a new
methodology for monitoring and control is proposed where the processing is
based on firmware on an off the shelf microcontroller. Sensing can range across
a number of physical parameters and communication is based on exploiting
existing infrastructure in particular support for TCPIP. Flexibility, low cost,
low maintenance are key drivers
