Description: The Session Initiation Protocol is defined by IETF and is based on an ip-based application layer control Protocol. Because SIP is a pure text signaling protocol, it can manage meetings on different access networks. The meeting can be any type of communication between the terminal devices, such as the video meeting, the information processing or collaboration meeting. The agreement does not define or restrict the services that can be used, such as transmission, quality of service, billing, and security, all of which are handled by basic core networks and other protocols. SIP has received strong support from Microsoft, AOL, vendors, IETF and 3GPP. The network that supports SIP will provide a bridge to extend the integration of business capabilities to various devices on the Internet and wireless networks. This will allow operators to provide a large number of information processing services for their mobile users, and interact with fixed and 2G wireless users via SMS. SIP is also a signaling protocol used in the UMTS3GPP r5/r6 release, so it can protect the operator's current investment and technical advantages and commercial value. Technical advantages of SIP
* is independent of access: SIP can be used to establish meetings with any type of access network, while allowing operators to use other protocols.
