Description: GPRS is part of the evolution path towards
3G. This paper investigates the effect of user mobility
on packet transmission in GPRS. A simulator was
developed to study the end-to-end behaviour of data
transmission between a mobile client and a fKed server
via GPRS and Internet. Simulation results show
interruption in data delivery when MS executes a
routing area update procedure. A fair queuing algorithm
is proposed to minimise update delay and packet loss.
