Description: RMAN (Recovery Manager) is an Oracle tool for backing up, restoring, and recovering s. RMAN can only be used in ORACLE8 or later. It can back up the entire or components such as tablespaces, datafiles, control files, archive files, and Spfile parameter files. RMAN also allows you to make incremental block-level backups. Incremental RMAN backups are time and space efficient because they only back up those blocks of data that have changed since the last backup. Moreover, through the RMAN interface, third-party backup and recovery software such as veritas will provide more powerful backup and recovery management. RMAN also provides additional features such as cloning, the use of RMAN to set up a standby , and the use of RMAN to back up and move files on raw devices (RAW), etc., will be much easier and simpler. 9i s RMAN makes backup and restore work faster and more seamless with enhanced auto-configuration and management features, and unique block-level recovery.
