Description: The works presented in this dissertation are focussed on the design and the development of a diagnosis procedure by parameter estimation for stator and rotor faults in induction motor. Firstly, we review briefly the main techniques for fault detection in electrical utilities in the aim to study theirs performances. Secondly, we have developed a new approach based on the introduction of a faulty model in the healthy one in order to explain the faults and a parameter estimation method with integration of physical knowledge. Used for faults detection occurring in magnetic core, experimental test results exhibit good agreement and demonstrate the possibility of detection and localization of di?erent failures.

The modified integral rotor flux estimation model is used to solve the problem that the normal model can be affected by the error accumulation and drift of integral calculation in the voltage model of conventional speed identification algorithm.

Description: This paper proposes a programmable low pass filter (LPF) to estimate stator flux for speed sensorless stator flux orientation control of induction motors. The programmable LPF is developed to solve the dc drift problem associated with a pure integrator and a LPF. The pole of the programmable LPF is located far from the origin in order to decrease the time constant with the increasing speed. In addition, the programmable LPF has the phase/gain compensator to estimate exactly stator flux in a wide speed range. Consequently, the drift problem is much improved and the stator flux is exactly estimated in the wide speed range. The validity of the proposed programmable LPF is verified by speed sensorless vector control of a 2.2 [kW] three-phase induction motor.

Description: A novel method based on a combination of the Extended Kalman Filter (EKF) with Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) to estimate the speed and rotor flux of an induction motor driveis presented. The proposed method will be performed in two steps. As a first step, the covariance matrices of state noise and measurement noise will be optimized in an off-line manner by the PSO algorithm. As a second step, the optimal values of the above covariance matrices are injected in our speed-rotor flux estimation loop (on-line).Computer simulations of the speed and rotor-flux estimation have been performed in order to investigate the effectiveness of the proposed method. Simulations and comparison with genetic algorithms (GAs) show that the results are very encouraging and achieve good performances.
