Even though there are tons of codes from the image registration, artificial intelligence or the robotics community, none of them can easily be used by the strain measuring community. Commercial code is available also and has the advantage of getting a guaranty that it works, is nicely designed and has well thought through user interfaces and typically a higher processing speed.
